I was recently reading about some fascinating economics research. Now, those of who wonder how economics can ever be interesting just haven't looked into the fields of behavioral economics--or monkey economics. Yes, that's right, monkeys have been the subjects of some economic experiments, which leads me to the most interesting thing I discovered in my reading: The first documented case of monkey prostitution. Lesson of the day if you publish a book: Be prepared. I am sitting here waiting for the phone to ring. It will be a reporter from the New York Post, who wants to do an interview and is on a tight deadline. I just learned of this thirty minutes ago. The phone just rang.

Okay, the interview went well. It would have been shaky if I hadn't just made (yesterday) a "cheat sheet" with lists of jobs and businesses covered in the book, notes on the key points and so on. When he asked if any of the jobs in the book could be done part time I just flipped the card to that part and read from the list. Why do people look for weird jobs? I had my reasons listed as well. We had to scramble to find a high resolution "head shot" that he requested, and it wasn't the best, so a new photo will be today's project. Of course, all of this should have been prepared before the book release. Live and learn...

My First Television Interview - My wife and I publish websites on a variety of topics--from home, and I like the anonymity and the working-without-shoes aspect of our business. But my book 101 Weird Ways to Make Money was being published, and I had to think about sales and marketing. My publicist at Wiley and Sons had the producers of Fox and Friends interested in the book, and asked me by email, "Did you have plans to visit NY this summer?" 101 Weird Ways to Make Money is still scheduled for release on the 26th, but it may be available from online book sellers a week early. Sunday morning I am scheduled to be on Fox and Friends via a satellite feed from their affiliate station in Denver. My first time on television.

You Can Make Money Writing--$17 up until two weeks ago--is now available for free on 999articles.com. I didn't want to update it as often as it needed updating, so I put it all up as a free online writing course and I also started a new newsletter, called the Internet Income Newsletter. With infrequent mailings (this will not be one of my weekly newsletters) I will detail whatever I learn about or have tried for making money online.

I recently approved the final edits for 101 Weird Ways to Make Money, so it looks like the book might be out by June.

Meanwhile, I have added at least fifty pages to EveryWayToMakeMoney.com since the last update here. I also added a whole new section, which has about twenty pages on... How to Make More Money from Your Business

January 22, 2011

I have stopped selling the e-book on cheap homes, and after remaking the website YourCheapHome.com (including a great logo created by Ana) I now have all the pages of the book available on the site here: Cheap Homes For Sale.

I will stop selling several other e-books in the coming months, in particular those that require too much updating over time. They will be posted publicly and for free online or used in other ways. This year we are hoping to cut the number of products we sell while improving the quality of everything we have online.

January 15, 2011:

I am in the middle of a major update of The Ultralight Backpacking Site, which includes new information, updated pages, a new page, and a new design. It will be done later today. Wiley has sent 101 Weird Ways to Make Money to the copy editor and I will be looking at final versions soon. I also have to find endorsements, so if anyone out there wants to look at the manuscript and say a few nice things for the back cover, let me know.

Busy, busy, busy... While still working hard on EveryWayToMakeMoney.com, I just threw together a website this week about using what you have in new and (we hope) better ways. It is full of creative living ideas, has 25 pages so far, and is called... UsingWhatYouHave.com

December 17, 2010:

I have officially launched my newest website, and it is going to be one of my best. The site was inspired by 101 Weird Ways to Make Money, and as soon as I got the final draft in I started writing and--for the first time--buying content on a large scale from a good writer I found through Elance.com. The first pages were built about a month ago, and the site now has 169 pages, of which 117 are mine (yes I have been writing like crazy). What is about? How to make money, of course, and the name? Every Way To Make Money .com. It will cover every way I can think of, and there will be more than 220 pages by January 6th, 2011. I hope to build it up to 400 pages within a year or so. These pages average about 800 words, so there will be a lot of great content.

November 30, 2010:

I got the contract in October and recently completed the manuscript for what is tentatively titled, "101 Weird Ways to Make Money." It was a lot of fun to research and write, and should be in bookstores by June of 2011. Also, it inspired a new website that I am working on (more on that soon).

September 5, 2010:

I'm working on The Thousand Mile Hole, second or third draft. I have also started a book of essays on a variety of topics. The tentative title is Gay Jesus and Other Irreligious Unpatriotic Essays. Politics, morality, modern life - I'll have something to say about almost everything.

August 22, 2010:

About a week ago, one of the largest publishers in the country contacted me to ask for a book proposal on unusual ways to make money. I have been on the phone with the head editor several times now, and back and forth in emails, and I will submit my final proposal tomorrow morning. If the editorial board approves it I'll get a nice advance and have until the end of the year to finish the book.

July 17, 2010:

I just returned from Hollywood, where I was interviewed for a documentary on luck being produced by Grand Scale Films. I believe it went well, and when the film is ready (sometime this fall I am told), I'll announce it here.

June 8, 2010:

I have built the site for my upcoming book The Thousand Mile Hole (that link will take you there). Although the book will not be out until January of 2011, I wanted to have everything else ready early this time. There is even an excerpt or two from the first draft of some chapters.

June 1, 2010:

I have been invited to be in a documentary about luck. Ana and I will be flying to Los Angeles in mid-July, where I will be interviewed for the film. Hopefully I will also be able to promote Beyond Mental Slavery a bit.

Beyond Mental Slavery is being produced and should be available on Amazon by the first week of May. I'll then start working on The Thousand Mile Hole, a book about how to think more deeply and creatively. That one should be out by January or February of 2011.

March 22, 2010:

I finished rewriting Problem Solving Power, and added a fun 25-page e-report called How to Have Radical New Ideas as a bonus.

March 13, 2010:

The cover has been designed, and the final interior proof approved. I'm not sure, but I think Beyond Mental Slavery may be for sale on Amazon in the next six weeks or less. I am also doing an updating of most of my ebooks, and a complete rewrite of Problem Solving Power. It will have more techniques and better examples, and it should be done by March 25th.

February 20, 2010:

Beyond Mental Slavery will be coming soon. This will be my second traditionally-published book. I have many e-books that are sold on various websites. Secrets of Lucky People was the first that I had published as a paperback, but is also available as an e-book. Beyond Mental Slavery should be out by June of 2010. It will be available at Amazon.com and traditional bookstores.

January 15, 2010:

BestMeditationCDs.com, my newest site, is up and running now. I have enjoyed the many brainwave entrainment recordings I've tried over the years, so I review and recommend some of them here.

December 29, 2009:

Heading to Ecuador tomorrow. I will be helping Ana line up some writers for our Spanish-language websites. My new site on meditation CDs is almost ready.

October 13, 2009:

TheMeaningOfMoney.com, my newest site, is done. Well, they are never done, but it is ready for viewing. I will continue to add new pages and work on the Money Matters Newsletter in the coming months. This one is about money and what it means to us, how it affects us, what it means to make it honestly, and related topics.
